Unionville Vineyards Link-thru summernullheader

Dear Friends,

Dear Friends, Spring has arrived, buds have opened on the vines and the winery has come alive! Finishing touches on festival preparation is in high gear as we take to the road this weekend for the annual Garden State Wine Growers “Blues and Wine” festival in Belvidere. The following weekend on June 2nd, our highly anticipated “Women and Wine at One with the Vine” fundraiser occurs. Even opening mail these days can create a frenzy as we all await results from various national and international wine competitions we’ve entered. For good reason too… the news to date has been awesome!

The saying goes “good things come in three’s." Winemaker Cameron Stark and the rest of the Unionville staff can’t help but think another double gold award notification is in the stars! Fueling that level of excitement is the fact that two of our newly released wines earned double gold awards in two well respected wine competitions. For those not familiar, a double gold is earned when each judge on the panel awards the wine a gold medal.

Last month, it was Unionville Vineyards 2005 Chardonnay that earned double gold in the first ever National Women’s Wine Competition in Santa Rosa, Ca. With only 6 double gold medals awarded amongst 1800 entries it’s a recognition to be reckoned with! Just this week, results from the Tasters Guild International Wine Competition were released. This time, the double gold honor was bestowed upon our 2004 Hunter’s Red Reserve, a Bordeaux blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. A long time favorite among Unionville fans, this wine is no stranger to awards with past vintages earning notable recognition as well.

In addition, our Port Vat #12 was recently awarded a gold medal in the New Jersey Wine Competition along with earning the prestigious Governor’s Cup honor. You’ll be happy to know these wines will be available for tasting at the upcoming GSWGA Blues & Wine Festival in addition to the Women and Wine fundraiser.

Speaking of which, less than a week away is our much anticipated “Women and Wine at One with the Vine” fundraising event at the winery. Held on Saturday, June 2nd from 12:00 noon – 5:00 p.m. (rain date June 3rd) this unique, fun-filled afternoon is not to be missed. Gather friends, spouses, partners, etc. and come stomp grapes, create a wine blend, take a 3k walk in the vineyard and more all for some great causes. Complete details are on our website or call the winery, 908 788-0400. Ticket sales have been brisk and will be limited. They can be purchased on line at LocalWineEvents.com or at the winery.

As you ponder attending, ask yourself how many opportunities you’ll get to stomp grapes or create a wine blend under the guidance of a veteran Napa Valley winemaker? Or even take a walk thru a vineyard with views that have to be seen to be believed? It’s yours for the taking on Saturday, June 2nd at the winery. So make time to treat yourself to a wine experience like no other. You deserve it and will be thrilled you did! We look forward to seeing you soon. And remember, life is too short to not drink wine!

Cheers,
