Dear Friends,
Harvest is slowly coming to an end at the vineyard and while we are breathing a sigh of relief at the same time we are reflecting on what we've accomplished and are in awe at the quality of this year’s harvest! “Great wines begin in the vineyard" and this year’s harvest will no doubt in time, showcase many exceptional wines!
With the exception of our late harvest dessert wine, all of our white wines are fermenting and will soon ready to move on to the next step of the winemaking process. Just picked Chambourcin and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are out on the crushing pad as we speak!
While it was a battle between the birds and the Chardonnay grapes, we’re happy to report the grapes won (well, at least more than half of them) and the Chardonnay has already made its way into the French oak barrels and begun its many months long journey into becoming a shining star!
While much of our attention has been on harvest, we’ve also been putting the finishing touches on our most popular festival of the year! Our annual two day Pumpkin Festival takes place this year on Saturday, October 28th and Sunday, October 29th from 12pm – 5pm. This wonderful family event couldn’t take place at a more beautiful time of year. The stunning colors of the fall foliage are breath taking, the wonderful aromas of harvest are in abundance and many recently released wines are at their finest!
Gather some friends and bring along the kids as there is something for everyone! Hayrides out to the vineyard, winery tours, pumpkin painting, demonstrations of pumpkin carving and a pottery wheel in action are some of the fun-filled events. There will be tastings and sales of premium chocolate truffles from the very finest chocolatier, J.Emanuel, olive oil tastings from Taste of Crete, and some very informative education about wine and cheese pairing from Treany. Admission includes a complimentary wine glass and 5 tasting coupons. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, snacks and kick back and listen to the classical rock sounds of the Jeff Bellfy Band as well. Make the time to treat yourself to this wonderful outing – you’ll be thrilled you did!
If you’re looking for something new and exciting to do for your next business affair or special event this holiday season how about a private wine tasting and tour with a little wine education thrown in for good measure? We are currently booking mid week and weekend packages so please contact me for additional information.
Speaking of the holidays, be sure to save the dates for both the New Jersey Wine Trail weekend (November 24th – November 26th) and our Port release weekend (December 2nd & December 3rd). Both offer opportunities to find unique gifts and great wines to share with friends and family this holiday season. Please check our website for additional details.
So once again, if you’ve visited the winery lately, it was great to see you. If you keep promising yourself a visit and just haven’t found the time, you owe it to yourself. The views on the road leading into the winery are breathtaking, our staff will be thrilled to see you and the wines are simply the best!
Cheers!
